Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most from homeowners and builders.

We've pulled together the questions we hear most often from homeowners and builders. If you don't see what you're looking for, get in touch—we're always happy to help.

Getting Started

How do I get started with a fireplace project?
Start by browsing our fireplaces online to see which options work best for your project. Then connect with our team for a project proposal. We'll review your house plans and create a custom construction plan for your job. From there, our in-house project managers coordinate every detail through a safe, professional installation.
Can I visit your showroom to see fireplaces in person?
Yes. We have over 35 fireplaces on display at our design center in North Charleston at 6420 Dorchester Road. Our showroom is open Monday through Friday, 9am to 4pm. You can see gas fireplaces, gas logs, and a variety of styles and brands in person before making your decision.
What should I expect during a showroom visit?
You'll see over 35 burning fireplaces on display. Our team will walk you through the different fuel types, styles, and brands. If you have house plans or photos of your space, bring them along—we'll help you narrow down the best options and can start putting together a proposal the same day.
What areas do you serve in South Carolina?
We serve the entire South Carolina coast, including Charleston, North Charleston, Mount Pleasant, Summerville, Goose Creek, James Island, Kiawah Island, Isle of Palms, Daniel Island, and surrounding areas. Whether you're building a new home or upgrading an existing fireplace, we can help.

Fireplaces & Products

What brands do you carry?
We carry premium fireplace brands including Acucraft, Ortal, FireRock, Focus, Element 4, JC Bordelet, and European Home. Visit our showroom to see over 35 burning displays in person.
What's the difference between gas, wood, and electric fireplaces?
Gas fireplaces offer instant heat and convenience with no wood to haul or ash to clean. Wood-burning fireplaces provide the traditional crackling fire experience. Electric fireplaces require no venting and can be installed almost anywhere. Our team can help you decide which fuel type makes the most sense for your home and lifestyle.
Do I need a chimney for a gas fireplace?
Not necessarily. Many modern gas fireplaces use direct-vent technology, which vents through a small pipe in the wall rather than a traditional chimney. Vent-free options are also available for certain spaces. Our team will assess your home's layout and recommend the best venting solution.

Installation & Service

How long does a fireplace installation take?
Most installations take 1–3 days depending on the scope. New construction installs are coordinated with your builder's timeline. Retrofit installations in existing homes typically wrap up within a day or two.
Can you install a fireplace in an existing home?
Yes. We do retrofit installations in existing homes as well as new construction. Whether you're adding a fireplace to a room that's never had one or replacing an old unit, our team will handle the project from design through final inspection.
How often should I have my chimney cleaned?
The National Fire Protection Association recommends an annual chimney inspection and cleaning. This applies even if you don't use your fireplace often—moisture, critters, and creosote buildup can cause problems over time.

For Builders & Architects

Do you work with builders and architects?
Absolutely. We've been working with builders on their fireplace projects all over the South Carolina coast for over 20 years. Our in-house project managers coordinate with your construction team to ensure seamless integration with your build schedule. We're also proud members of the Charleston Home Builder's Association. Learn more about our builder program.
Do you offer Lunch & Learn sessions?
Yes. We offer free Lunch & Learn sessions for builder and architect teams. We'll come to your office, bring lunch, and walk your team through fireplace options, venting requirements, building codes, and current design trends. Schedule a Lunch & Learn.

Pricing & Financing

Do you offer financing?
Yes. We offer flexible financing options so you can get the fireplace you want now and pay over time. Ask us for details during your consultation, or visit our financing page for more information.
How much does a fireplace installation cost?
Every project is different, so we provide custom proposals based on your home, your plans, and the products you choose. The best way to get a clear picture of cost is to request a project proposal—it's free and there's no obligation.
