Tips to Keep the Grill on Top

By August 13, 2018No Comments

Most of us love that the summer is here because it means we can finally spend as much time as we want grilling our favorite foods. Here are a few helpful tips to ensure that grilling season remains your favorite:

  1. Let the grill heat up:
    1. It seems obvious, but so many are too eager to throw food on the grill before it’s ready. Be patient, it’ll be worth it.
  2. When using a charcoal grill, wait for the coals to burn off
    1. Waiting for the coals to burn off allows for a nice even heat across the grill, which leads to evenly cooked meats, rather than some being black while others are barely hot.
  3. Move the coals continuously
    1. Make sure to keep the coals moving continuously for an even bed, and make sure to rest before serving.
  4. Non-stick spray
    1. It’s most likely a smart idea to spray some non-stick spray like Pam, on both the grill, as well as lightly spraying it on the actual food as well. You’ll thank us later.
  5. Use a thermometer
    1. So many of us who grill regularly think we can guesstimate an accurate reading of the heat of the grill, but quite often, we’re not nearly as close as we think we are. Most recipes will tell you what heat the grill should be; save yourself the hassle, and just use a thermometer to help out.
  6.  Don’t overcook
    1. Remember, the meat still continues to cook a little bit even after you’ve taken it off the grill. So you should think about removing your meal a minute or two earlier than you think it should be.
